Once I drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to LA. Early in the morning we drove to the top of the Griffith Park Observatory to partake of the sweeping views of the city at sunrise.

Majestic, no?

Gorgeous, right? Mist rolling in off the ocean; the sun low in the sky; downtown rising up in the distance.

Those of you from SoCal, already know how this story ends. That’s smog, because duh this is LA. Before you could say “Holy Industrial Revolution, Batman!” up went the convertible top. I felt like a chimney sweep! Still though, what’s a little long-term respiratory damage when you’ve got sweeping vistas like that?
